The weekly schedule balances the delivery of curriculum content with independent work periods.
Each school year begins with a guided ‘odyssey’ trip, a trip that takes the class of Grades 7 and 8 away from the school and out onto the land for about nine days.
Weekly meetings provide students with the opportunity to review what the group achieved in the previous week.
Each year students work in groups to develop a small business for their group such as baking and selling breads.
The Cooking Program at The Element nurtures this philosophy— students must try what is being cooked for them.
As part of the Ottawa Food Bank’s Community Harvest Program, students help plant, weed and harvest vegetables that then get distributed throughout Food Banks in Ottawa.
