Micro-economies has changed its name to Entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship, which is defined as “ the process of starting a business or other organization,” does a better job of describing what is happening in class.

As we begin 2015, students are in the process of ‘closing the books’ on 2014 and are completing cash flow statements, repaying loans and depositing their profit into the bank. At this juncture in the program, students will be given the opportunity to join a different group. However, in order for students to transfer to another group, they will have to create a resume and have an interview with the group they wish to join.

For the remainder of the school year, students will enroll in mini-workshops and learn relevant business skills such as using spreadsheets and developing webpages. Additionally, students will look to plan future events to sell their goods and services.

The student created businesses for the 2014-2015 school year include Smoothies, Just Jars, JESSE Pies, BB Bake, Elemental Woodworking, SAGA Crafts, ESS Events and Happy Tails After School Programs.
