About Me

Charles (Chuck) is a retired Naval Officer, originally from Nova Scotia, who recently started a second career in education. After moving to the Ottawa area in 2018, Charles taught at the Chelsea Forest School, where he facilitated learning in the outdoors and helped instill a love of nature among school-aged children. Prior to 2018, Charles taught Social Studies at an Independent Boarding School in Windsor, Nova Scotia where he also co-led the Duke of Edinburgh program in youth leadership and developed a volunteer program with students and a local shelter that supports people at-risk of homelessness. Charles completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double concentration in History and Geography from St. Mary’s University in Halifax and a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in History and a certification in Education from Towson University in Towson, Maryland. During his time in the Navy, Charles travelled around the world and was able to observe and explore international cultures. Having had that opportunity to explore helped create a desire to share and educate others about those cultures and how we as Canadians can learn from those around us. Charles is an avid outdoors-person, loves being challenged with what the environment has to offer and has embraced the National Capital Region’s winter playland. Charles also enjoys being active through playing hockey, softball, snowboarding and cycling.
